New Clothes

Always remember to wash your newly purchased dress or clothes. A lot of people assumed that all new clothes are clean and put them straight on once they had rip off the tags. But new clothes need to be washed before wearing.

In order for clothes to maintain their look and avoid being shop soiled, manufacturers add a chemical finish called Formaldehye which helps to prevent mildew and is most common for clothing that needs to be transported over long distance. This chemical has been linked to allergies in some people.

Most swing tags on clothing specify that garments need to be washed before being worn for this reason. Most of us will also notice, when washing our new coloured clothes for the first time, a lot of dye is washed out of the garment. This is another reason as to why we should wash new clothes before wearing them; to help remove excess dye. If we do not do this, the excess dye can come off onto the skin and cause further problems.

After all this being said, we should really wash our new clothing because we do not know who has tried it, other people's hygiene habit, where it has been and the possible contamination that can happen through shipping.

So please remember to wash all your new clothing.
